Updated 2026-11-02

Data records

  • Recloser and Sectionalizer Operation is specified for oil and vacuum automatic circuit reclosers in maintenance testing at clause 7.24.1.B.12 of ANSI/NETA MTS-2023. The clause calls for all protective functions of the recloser to be tested in accordance with the protective relay section, whose reclosing relay items cover the time delay of each reclosing interval that is set, lockout for unsuccessful reclosing and the reset time; the clause number follows the specification's June 2023 correction sheet, which moved the recloser body to 7.24.1. Value: oil and vacuum automatic circuit reclosers. Source: ANSI/NETA MTS-2023, clause 7.24.1.B.12. Verified 2026-11-02. 3.6.6 Automatic Operation

"If the fault still persists on the circuit when the recloser closes, the tripping and reclosing sequence is repeated (a predetermined number of times), as established by the sequence control device, until the recloser goes to lockout. If the fault has cleared from the circuit during any open period, the recloser closes and remains closed, and the sequence control device resets so that it is in position for the next sequence of operations."
